Management: An Account for a Good Performance

Management is a must in every organization, the functions of which should be in step with changes and developments. Management invariably termed as administration that covers activities involved, effective management and supervision of an office, personnel and operations.

The aim of management is to direct as well as exercise close supervision of work. It has the important function and responsibility of providing coordination and communication within an office. What is that important resource which is indispensable to every management? That is information. Information is a meaningful data-report in words, figures or in symbols that is basic in decision making.

Management should manifest three major objectives. First, is improvement. Every procedure is capable of further improvement. The same thing with personnel. Improved work methods insure better performance with a minimum waste of time, effort, money and materials, second, is facilitation. The office that is properly administered is expected to help facilitate and contribute to the smooth functioning of an office with the use of machines and equipment as well as physical facilities and satisfactory working conditions. Lastly, is the control which deals with the regulating and retaining of activities in accordance with plans. The establishment of proper operating standards, maintenance of records, and the report to top management represent a form of control. Such control does not only provide the organization with sufficient information that it needs but at the same time represents a method through which results are checked against established standards.
